Residential Sustainability Assessment Grant 25/26

Overview

Residential Sustainability Assessment Grants support owners of existing residential buildings within the City of Perth to undertake assessments to determine environmental performance, to identify improvement opportunities, and work towards improving resource efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing climate resilience. The grant is available for residential strata-titled buildings; and for student, aged and supported accommodation. Projects must relate to common areas or provide communal benefit for residential occupants.

To guide and inform the City’s direction and approach for the Residential Sustainability Assessment Grants, key priority outcomes which are aligned to the City’s Strategic Community Plan and Sustainability Strategy have been identified.

Funding Available

Grants of up to $11,000 (excluding GST) are available for the following requests :

  • up to $10,000 towards the cost of a sustainability assessment
  • up to $1,000 towards the cost of a post-assessment information session (in conjunction with application for a sustainability assessment)

Payment of funding will be made as a reimbursement after all project components are completed and a satisfactory acquittal report has been approved by the City.

Key Dates

The City will accept applications for Residential Sustainability Assessment Grants at any time, however decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis in line with budget and strategic priorities.

Applications open: 1 July 2025

Applications close: 30 April 2026

Residential Sustainability Assessment Grants operate as exhaustive funding - where grants are allocated on an ongoing basis, provided the application meets the eligibility criteria and minimum standard in addressing the assessment criteria, until the budgeted funding is exhausted.

Applicants are required to apply a minimum of 8 weeks prior to the start of the project and must complete approved assessments within twelve months from the date of approval.

Required Documentation

  1. Details of past assessments or ratings, if applicable.
  2. Quotation outlining the scope of work to be completed from an accredited supplier.
  3. Evidence of financial viability through a recent bank statement or annual statement.
  4. Documentation authorising Strata Manager or Agent to act on behalf of Owners (if applicable).
